Field Trips that Bring Students Closer to Home

We believe in the power of connecting students with the world right in their backyard. Since 2021, we’ve provided more than 600 students with enriching field trips to significant local sites across Rockingham County. These hands-on learning experiences introduce students to the history, environment, and culture of their home, fostering a deeper sense of place and community pride. From exploring scenic trails to uncovering the unique heritage of the area, our field trips make education come alive—right here at home.

Opening Doors to Higher Education: College Campus Visits

We understand the importance of firsthand experiences when it comes to making college decisions. Since 2021, we’ve supported more than 400 students on college campus visits, with a special focus on Rockingham Community College (RCC). These visits give students the chance to explore local educational opportunities, envision themselves in a college setting, and learn about the resources available right here at home. By highlighting RCC, we aim to show students the value of starting their higher education journey close to home, with strong support and affordable options.

Trails K12: Connecting Students with Nature Through Education and Exploration

Our Trails K12 program brings the classroom outdoors, providing students with hands-on learning experiences right in their school’s backyard. Through this initiative, we create and maintain school-based trails that offer a space for exploration, learning, and physical activity under the canopy of nature. We've designed and constructed 7 school trails and taken on care of another for a total of 8 public school trails valued at $150,000 and serving more than 2,000 students.
